Cat no: S1013-87F

SIRP, alpha1 (SIRPa, Signal Regulatory Protein, SHPS-1, BIT, p84, CD172a)

Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPases) SHP-1 and SHP-2 may serve as both negative or positive regulators in the intracellular signaling pathways. They are critical in cell responses such as mitosis, differentiation, migration, survival, transformation or death. SHP-2 is a signal transducer for several receptor tyrosine kinases and cytokine receptors. Recently identified was a novel SHP-2 associated glycosylated receptor-like protein from human, rat, mouse and cattle by several labs and was designated SIRP-1alpha (1), SHPS-1 (2,3), MyD-1 (4), BIT (5,6), p84 (7), and MFR (8). SHPS-1 is a member of a new gene family called the signal regulatory proteins of which there are at least fifteen members. SHPS-1 is a substrate of many activated tyrosine kinases such as insulin receptor, EGFR, PDGFR, and src, a specific docking protein for SHP-2 (1,2,5,9). SHPS-1 has regulatory effects on cellular responses induced by serum, growth factors, insulin, oncogenes, growth hormones and cell adhesion and plays a general role in different physiological and pathological processes (1,2,5,9). The mRNA of SHPS-1 is predominantly expressed in hematopoietic cells (2,3).\n \nApplications: \nWestern Blot (Colorimetric): 4ug/ml \nOptimal dilutions to be determined by researcher.

Additional Info

Detects bands ranging from 80-95kD, corresponding to the many splice variants of SHPS-1 on SDS-PAGE immunoblots, in human cell lysates and in mouse, rat and bovine brain tissue extracts. The antibody specificity is confirmed in specific peptide inhibition immunoblotting studies
