SMC1 is involved in chromosome cohesion during cell cycle and in DNA repair. It is a central component of the cohesin complex. The cohesin complex is required for the cohesion of sister chromatids after DNA replication. The cohesin complex apparently forms a large proteinaceous ring within which sister chromatids can be trapped. At anaphase, the complex is cleaved and dissociates from chromatin, allowing sister chromatids to segregate. The cohesin complex may also play a role in spindle pole assembly during mitosis. Involved in DNA repair via its interaction with BRCA1 and its related phosphorylation by ATM, SMC1 works as a downstream effector in the ATM/NBS1 branch of S-phase checkpoint.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nImmunofluoresence: 1:200-1:800\nImmunoprecipitation: 1-4ug/mg of lysate\nWestern Blot: 1:1000-1:10,000\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control: HeLa Nuclear Extract\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
