Surfactant Protein D, Lectin Domain (SP-D)

Surfactant Protein D is a Ca2+ dependent carbohydrate binding protein with a structure similar to other C-type mammalian lectins. Its molecular weight is 620kD under non-reducing conditions and 43kD under reducing conditions. SP-D enhances the production of oxygen radicals in alveolar macrophages and regulates some actions of SP-A. SP-D is a lung surfactant associated collectin that has been implicated in the innate pulmonary host defense against a wide variety of important bacterial, fungal and viral pathogens.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and ELISA. Other applications have not been tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nImmunohistochemistry (Use snap frozen or paraffin embedded tissue): Fresh rat tissue: 1:400; fresh human tissue: 1:20. Fixation: Acetone 5 minutes at 4 degrees C, paraformaldehyde, paraffin. Tissue pretreatment: Microwave treatment 2 x 5 minutes at 750W for paraffin tissues.\nELISA: Use as a capture antibody.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nSource: Tissue culture supernatant\n\nStorage and Stability:\nLyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
