Survivin (TIAP, API4)

Survivin also known as IAP (Inhibitor of Apoptosis) or TIAP (murine homologue of IAP) is undetectable in quiescent tissue but abundantly expressed in proliferating cells and it has widespread tissue distribution. Survivin is expressed in the G2/M phase of the cell cycle in a cycle-regulated manner. All the iap genes isolated from different species have a common motif known as baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) which may be present in two or three copies. The BIR motifs are essential for interaction of the IAP proteins with proapoptotic proteins, including the caspase family of death proteases. Survivin has been associated with protection against apoptosis of cells that exit mitosis abberantly. At the beginning of mitosis, survivin associates with microtubules of the mitotic spindle in a specific and saturable reaction which is regulated by microtubule dynamics and rapidly downregulated by cell cycle arrest in G1 phase. (2,3).\n \nApplications: \nWestern Blot (Colorimetric): 0.5-1.0ug/ml \nOptimal dilutions to be determined by researcher.
