SYK (Spleen Tyrosine Kinase, HGNC:11491, p72Syk, Tyrosine Protein Kinase SYK)

SYK is a 70kD non-receptor protein tyrosine kinase whose role differs in hematopoietic and non hematopoietic stem cells. In hematopoietic cells SYK is involved in the proximal signalling downstream of activated immunoreceptors (BCR, TCR, Fc receptors), thereby orchestrating a complex series of cellular responses such as cell proliferation, differentiation, survival and phagocytosis. In epithelial cells SYK appears to function as a negative regulator of related events. Furthermore, SYK has been shown to promote expression or secretion of inflammation-related molecules in lung epithelial cells. SYK appears to be required for vascular integrity during development, thus, manipulation of SYK function in endothelial cells could potentially modulate tumor-associated angiogenesis. SYK also has been shown to interact with Epstein-Barr virus LMP2A.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nELISA: 1:16,000\nWestern Blot: 1-3ug/ml detects a band of ~70kDa in human bone marrow, lymph node and spleen lysates.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
