Synuclein alpha interacting protein (Synphilin-1) contains several protein-protein interaction domains and interacts with alpha synuclein in neurons. Mutations of SNCAIP have been linked to Parkinson disease. The amino acid sequence of synphilin-1 shares a high level of identity with its human counterpart, particularly in regions containing ankyrin-like motifs and the coiled-coil domain. Expression pattern of synphilin-1 in tissues is similar in both mouse and human. Synphilin-1 has an important role in the formation of aggregates and cytotoxicity in Parkinson disease and also Dorfin may be involved in the pathogenic process by ubiquitylation of synphilin-1. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
