Caspase-1/ICE (interleukin-1beta converting enzyme) is a member of the ICE family of cysteine proteases. Caspase-1 exists in many cells as an inactive 45kD proenzyme and is cleaved into 20kD and 10kD subunits which form the active caspase-1. Casapse-1/ICE cleaves the inactive form of interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta) to generate the active from of this pro-inflammatory cytokine. Like the other caspases, Caspase-1 plays a role in apoptosis. Overexpression of Caspase-1 in cells induced apoptosis, and Caspase-1-mediated apoptosis can be blocked by CrmA, a selective inhibitor of several caspases.
Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.

Western Blot: 0.5ug/ml
Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 5ug/ml
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
