Taxilin, alpha (TXLNA, DKFZp451J0118, IL14, MGC118870, MGC118871, RP4-622L5.4, TXLN)

Alpha-Taxilin (TXLN-alpha; also p75 [in rat] and IL-14 alpha) is the founding member of the \ntaxilin family of proteins. Although its predicted MW is 62kD, it runs anomalously at 74-76kD in SDS-PAGE. Alpha-Taxilin is ubiquitously expressed and participates in intracellular vesicle trafficking. In particular, alpha-Taxilin interacts with syntaxin family members that localize to the plasma membrane, providing for SNARE complex formation. alpha-Taxilin also regulates the \nplacement of growing protein chains. Human alpha-Taxilin is 546aa in length. Its defining characteristic is a large coiled-coil region between aa186-491. When an alternate start site at Met176 is used, a secreted cytokine is generated termed IL-14 alpha. Over aa1-162, human alpha-Taxilin shares 81% aa identity with mouse alpha-Taxilin. \n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nELISA: 0.5-1.0ug/ml\nWestern Blot: 1.0ug/ml\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nLyophilized powder may be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol and store at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
