Triglycerides are the most efficient form of energy storage in mammalian adipose tissue during times of caloric excess. ATGL is one of the key enzymes involved in the mobilization of fatty acids from triglyceride stores in adipose tissue, catalyzing the conversion of triacylglycerols to diacylglycerols. Inhibition of ATGL markedly decreases total adipose acyl-hydrolase activity, and thus may be a potential drug target for the diabetic pathology. ATGL mRNA is detected in a wide range of tissues including adipose, lung, skeletal muscle, testis, heart, brain, and kidney, with adipose tissue expressing the highest level.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nELISA: 1:32,000\nWestern Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml, observed in human adipose, heart and testis lysates on ~60kD bands\nImmunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 2-3ug/ml\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
