Irisin is a recently described exercise-induced hormone secreted by skeletal muscle in mice and humans. Irisin promotes brown adipocyte recruitment in white fat and improves systemic metabolism by increasing energy expenditure. Irisin is cleaved from the type I membrane protein FNDC5.
Sequence:
Irisin (human, aa 16-127 / mouse, aa 29-140) is untagged. Irisin has 100% identity between mouse, rat, monkey and human.
