UCP4 is a 323aa mitochondrial uncoupling protein belonging to the large mitochondrial substrate carrier family with three Solcar repeats. UCP4 is a mitochondrial transport carrier that facilitates the transfer of anions from the inner to the outer mitochondrial membrane and the return transfer of protons from the outer to the inner mitochondrial membrane. It reduces the mitochondrial membrane potential in mammalian cells and is involved in thermoregulatory heat production. UCP4 creates proton leaks across the inner mitochondrial membrane, thus uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation from ATP synthesis resulting in dissipation of energy in the form of heat. UCP4 is usually found in adult and fetal brain, with low levels in spinal chord, corpus callosum and substantia nigra.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 0.5-1ug/ml\nImmunohistochemistry (formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 5ug/ml\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control:\nBrain lysate\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
